Xanax A Cause to Gynecomastia or Obstruction of it (Breast Busting)

Xanax is a small anti-anxiety and anti-panic pill that has active ingredients of alprazolam. It is often used to treat a variety of disorders such as stress or anxiety. It is a prescription drug whose side effects include depression and nervousness. It is in a class of drugs called Benzodiazepines which acts on the central nervous system and brain to produce a sedative effect.

It slackens down the movement of chemicals in the brain that may have become disturbed, which results a reduction of tension in the nervous system. It also works by enhancing and boosting up the effects of a natural chemical substance processed in the brain known as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Meanwhile, GABA is a simple organic compound or amino acid (C4H9NO2) that transmits signals from the brain throughout our body. It induces inhibition of neurons that are postsynaptic resulting to slowing down of the activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Though the exact mechanisms acting upon taking this drug is not yet fully understood. Still its primary sites of action or process may be the reticular formation and limbic system increasing the effect of GABA.

Since it was introduced in the market, lots of side effects such as gynecomastia have been recorded with patients using Xanax. However, there is no profound relationship established between Xanax and breast enlargement due to the lack of controlling factors and the unprompted nature of recording medical events.

Moreover, Xanax as a cause of gynecomastia remains unsupported truth. The most common effects of Xanax are the following: light headedness, drowsiness, lack of appetite, slurred speech, trouble speaking and performing routinary tasks, sleeping problems, difficulty with coordination, irritability, tiredness, forgetfulness, changes in rhythms of speech and patterns, feeling sad, problems in controlling muscle activity, etc.

Wherein the less common effects are blurred vision, burning or tingling feeling, chills, body pain, clay-colored stools, dark urine, diarrhea, breathing difficulty, cough, fainting, ear congestion, fever, nervousness, hyperventilation or irregular heartbeat, unusual long sleep duration, wheezing, unusual facial expression, unpleasant odor of breath, twitching and uncontrolled movements of the arms or neck, trouble with balancing, swollen joints, sticking out tongue, sore throat, sweating, shivering and shaking, seizures, runny nose, rashes, painful urination, nausea, muscle stiffness or weakness, loss of voice and memory, vomiting of blood and yellow skin or eyes.

Though few people claimed that they have it while taking Xanax, it is generally not correlated as an effect of taking the drug. Also, in most researches, people taking Xanax with this disorder are male and around 50-59 years of age. With this factual information, age and gender could be somewhat relevant in having this disorder. Therefore, there is no direct relationship of Xanax as the cause of breast enlargement in men who uses it.

On the other hand, many are also wondering if Xanax can obstruct gynecomastia. As to this issue, there are less sources and research that would support this ideology. The only relative association of Xanax as treatment are those who suffer depression for having this kind of disorder.
